Trainees’ recommendations

A selection of opinions expressed by participants of disability awareness training courses collected by means of anonymous questionnaires.

The courses were delivered at the offices of various international enterprises and cultural institutions in Polish and English.

Do you consider the knowledge and skills acquired during the workshop useful in your daily and professional life?

  • Yes, that knowledge helps avoid clumsy situations and opens one’s mind to actual problems faced by persons with disabilities in daily life.

  •

Yes, I learnt about many small things I previously ignored, which are yet important for persons with disabilities.

  •

One is clueless without analysing the subject more in-depth.

  •

Yes, I am going to appreciate their independence. It will also help me communicate with them better.

  •

Yes, this is hardly discussed, while it is worthwhile to know how to facilitate access to various spaces.

What did you like during the training course and why?

  • I liked specific examples, we did not discuss abstract things but specific problems and solutions.

  •

The training course was informal, very practical (despite much theoretical input) and delivered in a very accessible way.

  •

What I liked most was the opportunity to move in a wheelchair in the space where I work and the presentation of visual information examples.

  •

What I liked best was drawing a picture as it was being described. In that way, one could at least sense which difficulties are faced by persons with sight issues.

Co uważa Pan/Pani za rzecz najważniejszą wyniesioną ze szkolenia?

  • The conviction that there are no problems that cannot be solved.

  •

The most important to me were real-life examples, mainly concerning the way persons with disabilities move around in Krakow.

  •

Drawing our attention to what public places look like, how they are or are not ready to accommodate persons with disabilities and how things work just for them.
